Weeknotes: 5th January 2026

As promised, this year I'm going to try, at least for a while, switching to notes per topic, rather than a single weekly write up. It'll probably still be written on a Monday morning as I try to remember what it was I did last week, but some posts last year got a bit long winded trying to combine many things at once. Ideally I'd actually write them as individual posts and just import them to this longer one so different audiences can have the general overview of everything I do, or people can just focus on topics they like, but there's not enough hours in the day for that right now - as fun as messing with my blogging platform is, it's very low priority alas.

Note that I don't consider these notes "full blog posts" which I tend to do at the conclusion of some work or event, these will still be scrappy in progress things I'm writing up under weeknotes.

Anyway, please enjoy the first two posts that will follow this one (here and here) as I try to page in what I did at the end of 2025.

The one downside of this format I do realise is I can't write up what I'm meant to be doing this coming week, which was useful both for me to thing about, and for my colleages to point out if I'd forgotten something. But we'll see if any of us miss that enough for me to reconsider.

As a quick aside, xmas did show a problem with my self-produced blogging software - it hangs if ran for just over a week, but I've not noticed all year because I restart it every time I upload a new weeknotes, only when I downed tools for xmas did I get complaints in the following week about this website not working 🤦 Clearly that should make fixing the software a priority, but the weeknotes are back, and so the problem is one for next xmas I guess :)
